Trinh Nu cave has a system of stalactites and beautiful scenery, located in route 2 of Ha Long Bay including Surprising (Sung Sot) Cave – Soi Sim – Maze (Me Cung) Cave, the Trinh Nu cave is 14 km south of Bai Chay. The Trinh Nu cave is associated with a touching story about love of a man and a woman. Coming to visit Trinh Nu cave, tourists will hear a lot about the emotional love story.
Legend has it, there was a beautiful fishing girl, whose family was so poor that it was in the service of the rich administrator of the fishing zone. He forced the family to give him the girl as a concubine. She already had a lover who at that time was on the high seas catching fish to prepare for their wedding. Unable to do anything, he sent her to an uninhabited island. On a rainy night, the girl turned into a stone.
It was also the night that her lover knew of her danger, and he rowed his boat in search of her. At night, thunderstorms hit the boat, making him wash up on a deserted island. In a lighting flash he recognized the girl on another island but his words were taken away by the wind. He used a stone block to hammer down on the mountain cliffs to announce to her he was nearby. Then, he was exhausted and petrified in (today’s Trong Grotto).
The first impression when entering the cave of each visitor is the image of a statue made of stone like a girl, lying down with long hair, her eyes are looking faraway, stimulating a sadness as she is waiting for something desperately.
When tourists go into the cave, stalactites are more and more beautiful and the air is cooler. These stalactites have blended together to create a picture with soul. The water from the stalactites falls down, making the endless symphony.
